At the invitation of His Lordship, Bishop Raymond Wickramasinghe and the Parish Priest, Very Rev. Fr. Michael Rajendram, His Excellency, the Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Joseph Spiteri, laid the foundation for a New Church, in a distant outstation, Selvakande, of Deniyaya Parish, in honour of St. Sebastian, on the 20th January 2012.  

Very Rev. Fr. Nihal Nanayakkara, the Vicar General and several others were present at the occasion.    Rev. Fr. Michael Rajendram and his Assistant, Rev. Fr. Leo Merril, made all the necessary arrangements to celebrate the Annual Feast and the laying on of this foundation.  

Bishop Raymond believes that this House of God will be a reality soon.  He is hopeful of the people of goodwill who would come forward to help this noble undertaking on behalf of some of the vulnerable people.
