Declaration of the Diocesan Phase of the Pre-Synodal Meeting In the diocese of Galle in preparation for the Synod of Bishops in Rome in 2023.

I, Raymond Wickramasinghe, the Bishop of Galle, call upon all the Priests, Religious and Faithful of the Diocese of Galle to join me in prayer, love, zeal and witness as we declare open the diocesan Phase of the Pre-Synodal Meeting, from today, 17th October 2021 to 22nd April 2022.

Like the Apostles on the glorious day of Pentecost, we courageously open the door of the upper room and boldly proclaim Jesus Christ, crucified and risen, as we ‘journey together’ in the direction in which He wants to lead us.

Hence, I invite all our faithful for a co-journey of Communion, Participation and Mission together to encounter the Lord and one another in the Synodal way laid before us by Pope Francis.

Let us have a good journey together!  May we be pilgrims in love with the Gospel and open to the surprises of the Holy Spirit.  Let us not miss out on the grace-filled opportunities born of encounter, listening and discernment Homily of Pope Francis at the Holy Mass – Opening of the Synodal Path on 10th October 2021)
