Message from the Diocesan Administrator
May I very humbly and joyfully thank the Good Lord Almighty for the abundant blessings poured upon all of us during the month of January.
Let us thank the Lord for the relatively peaceful atmosphere that prevailed during the Presidential election time. May the Holy Spirit guide the political leaders of our country to eradicate corruption, all forms of violence and ethnic and religious divisions ushering in a new era of lasting peace and justice in our country.
May we convey our condolences to Rev. Mother Prioress and the community of the great Carmelite sisters in Kalegana, over the death of Rev. Sr. Mary Josephine. May she rest in peace!

Our vision for the diocese of Galle, in collaboration with the religious and the laity, is the building up of the kingdom of God in our diocese renewing our spiritual commitment to peace and amity with all peoples. For we believe that, in the beginning, God created man in His own image and likeness and empowered him to make creation ever new with his intellect till the end of times. After the fall, in the fullness of time, God sent his only Son among us to
retrieve the original dignity of man which was lost due to disobedience in the garden. Notwithstanding the redemption that Christ won for us on the cross, man remains enslaved to sin and evil. There are economic, socio - political and cultural forces that underpin this state of slavery. Our vision, with the help of those who are willing to cooperate, is to resurrect the human person from the conditions that distance him from the Kingdom and lead him to union with God and unity with all peoples.
Our mission is to foster love and charity as they are the binding force of unity, harmony and peace. The Second Vatican Council deciphers that “the dichotomy affecting the Modern world is, in fact, a symptom of the deeper dichotomy that is in man himself” (GS). Lack of peace in our country and in the world is a sign of deeper spiritual and moral paralysis that gnaws at the heart of the society. More than ever before, today we need to address the issues of the interior life of the human person more comprehensively. The Holy Spirit has sown in every heart the seed of true happiness. It is incumbent upon us to accompany our people to make this discernment with maximum clarity.
