The Church Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes at Halpatota was celebrated on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th of February 2017. Rev. Fr. Theodore Lambert, the Parish Priest together with the Parishioners have organized this annual event to honour Our Lady of Lourdes.
Galle Diocesan Presbyteral Meeting will begin at 9.00 a.m. on Monday 6th March 2017.
All Priests serving in the Diocese of Galle together with the Bishop of Galle will enter into a Sharing of Faith and Mission Experience in the next two days.

The above event was organized especially in connection with the Year of St. Joseph Vaz. The Pilgrims from most of the Parishes in the Diocese numbering around 1800 were present during the said Pilgrimage. His Lordship the Bishop of Galle, Priests, Religious and Laity participated in the common Stations of the Cross in both Sinhala and Tamil streams followed by the Holy Eucharist presided over by His Lordship.

The very first meeting of the Directors/Chaplains of Apostolates in the Diocese of Galle took place on Monday 13th February 2017 at the Board room of Caritas SED Galle. The session was chaired by the Vicar General. The Directors shared their experience and recommendations in connection with their respective Apostolates. The session was to coordinate the Apostolates in the Diocese in line with the Diocesan Pastoral Plan and in the spirit of the missionary commitment of our beloved St. Joseph Vaz.
The Diocese of Galle will inaugurate the Year of Saint Joseph Vaz, the Apostle of Sri Lanka, on Sunday 15th January 2017, the Feast day of our dear Saint.
Special Liturgical services in Parish level are being organized to add meaning and color to the event.
The Diocesan Plan for the Year of SJV will be implemented throughout the year and come to a meaningful conclusion on the Feast of St. Joseph Vaz in 2018.
The New Regional Superior of the Missionaries of Charity Rev. Sr. Mary Eliza met Bishop Raymond at the Bishop’s House. Outgoing Regional Superior Rev. Johannes was also present.
The Governor of the Southern Province Hon. Hemakumara Nanayakkara paid a courtesy call on the Bishop of Galle to greet for the New Year.
The Sirasa Christmas Zone opened for the third consecutive day today. The Sirasa Christmas Zone located down Braybrooke Street in Colombo was declared open today (22-Dec-2016) by the Bishop of Galle Rt. Rev. Dr.Raymond Wickremesinghe.
The opening ceremony also saw the participation of the top management and staff of the Capital Maharaja Organisation.
The giant Christmas tree, Christmas decorations and carols are a few specialties which onecould witness at the Sirasa Christmas Zone. Carols sung by youth choirs and bands and choristers of the tri forces filled the air as the the Christmas Zone continued to light up the nights.
