As such it extended from the foot – hills of Utuwankanda to the coastal parish of Hambantota, covering an area of 4038,75 Sq miles of the most varied aspect from the point of view of scenery, population and pastoral engagements.

There were 50 children from North who participated in the programme with about 40 children from the south.  The purpose of the camp was to create unity and harmony among the children.  For the opening session of the camp there were dignitaries from various quarters such as Priests, Nuns, Buddhist clergy, education director, Government officials.  The camp lasted for four days with the participation of 140 persons.


There were 25 teachers from Vaddakachchi,in Ramanathapuram in the Kilinochchi district and “Shanthi Padanama” Dehiwala, Colombo who took part in this program which was conducted by a team from Catholic University of Milan and “School for Life” resource team Matara held 18th to 22nd August 2014. The “teacher-psycho-social team” from Matara has been trained by the Italian experts from University of Milan, on the psychosocial support of children victims of trauma, during the intervention after tsunami in 2005.
The above program was the final session and before that there had been two more sessions of similar nature for about 34 teachers in Kilinochchi and Weligama.
